Who Was Harriet Bograd?

Harriet was born on the 6th of April 1943, she was from a conservative Jewish family in Paterson, New Jersey and her family used to work for an upscale furniture emporium. Harriet started working for Uganda and also various schools and building them as well. She served earlier as the president of organizations that help people for many years and she helped various Jews and American Jews as well who were unaware of their Jewish families and also their families. Harriet had her education from Yale law school and she was one of the 11 girls they had in her class. She later worked in healthcare and also taught people in communicating with each other.

Rabi Margie, daughter of Harriet posted on her social media and she spoke about Harriet’s demise. It was revealed that Harriet passed away after she had complications from her heart surgery. As per the information given by Rabbi, Harriet passed away on the 17th of September 2022, at the age of 79. Reports have claimed that Harriet was suffering from stage four breast cancer since 1997 and it was when she said that she wanted to utilize the limited time that she had to promote communication and also helped various Jewish families. She built schools for people who were Jews and also provided education to students who were Christians and Muslims as well.

Kulanu is a community that helps and improvises Jews and their families and helps them recognize their religion and spirituality. Harriet started working for the nonprofit Kulanu and she worked for 33 different communities of Africa. Back in 2011, she got to Africa to visit her daughter where she saw that there were only Twenty Jewish families despite the whole area who were surrounding those Jewish people, Christians and other religious people. Harriet also helped in establishing the Heschel school which is a Jewish-based school and is presently in Manhattan, New York, this school involves the enrollments of thousands of people who were present there and were Jews at one time in the early 1980s. Harriet worked with Kulanu for over 20 years and she and her husband as well were involved in developing this small community. Harriet is married to ken Kelin and Ken as well supported Harriet in her journey. Kulanu has not been without controversy for years, despite that she supported the community and helped build various community profiting schemes and helped them come true as well. She was survived by her husband, Ken, her daughters Rabbi Lein Rankin, and Sarah Kelin, a sister Naomi Robbin and two grandchildren as well. Harriet was rightly known for her work, her righteousness, and her acts of kindness as well who embraced and developed the Jewish community.
