Zamfara Emir was the longest and the oldest serving emir in the state of Zamfara, the Emir of Kwatarkwashi in the local government area of Bungudu. As per the reports, Zamfara took his last breath at his palace on Thursday, 9th June 2022. He has been on the throne for more than 6 decades. Mai Kwatarshi was the 28th emir of Kwatarkwashi. As per the reports it is found that he was crowned on 17th March 1961 at the hands of Sultan Abubakar III. Since then he was serving the country as the Zamfara Emir.

His sudden passing shattered the citizen of his state and they are feeling like they has lost their father. The passing news of the emir was confirmed by Kabiru Balarabe who is the secretary of the state government. Balarabe informed his passing news on Friday, 10th June 2022 and he also stated the cause of his sudden death. He said that the emir was handed away after a prolonged illness. The state government secretary stated his funeral prayer was held in the state Kwatarkwashi as per the rites of Islamic tradition.

After hearing about the sudden departure of the 28th emir many prominent figures shared their condolences. Bello Muhammad the Governor has grieved with the Kwatarkwashi Emirate, the local government area of Bungudu (LGA) over the passing. Muhammad extended his shock after hearing the sudden passing of the 28th Emir. Zailani Bappa issued a statement on the behalf of the governor in which he expressed his sorrow. He stated that “the governor is presently in the place called Abuja, he got the unfortunate news that shattered him and he sends his condolences from that place. The demise of the 28th emir was not only the end of the strong and great era but the loss that can never be filled….On the behalf of my family, myself, and the government of Zamfara State, we are praying for the passing of the 28th emir. May Gog give rest to his soul.”
