Yoichi was a great filmmaker from japan who has a mixed-race background. Yoichi’s films were widely based on the Korean and also Japanese cultures as well where Yoichi used to show the great culture and also difficulties faced in these two countries. A film called Under the moon is one of his greatest works where he showcased the descent love story of a man who is Korean, and a cab driver who falls in love with a Filipina who is a bar worker and also a hostess. This story is showcased in Tokyo. This film bought attention to Yoichi’s work on an international level and he also won many awards as well for this movie.
Yoichi Sai Death Reason
As per the reports, Yoichi passed away at the age of 72. He passed away on the 27th of November 2022, Sunday and he passed away battling Bladder cancer that he has been dealing with for a long time. The family members added to their statement that Yoichi was at his house in Tokyo and he passed away on the earlier hours of Sunday around 1 am. Back in 2019, Yoichi mentioned in an interview that he is diagnosed with bladder cancer and it was also mentioned that he was undergoing a total hysterectomy in April 2020. Later it was mentioned that cancer had spread through his lymph nodes. Yoichi was hospitalized for two weeks for his condition.

Yoichi was someone who used to mostly portray the life of a Korean resider in Japan and also the problems surrounding the life of those people in their daily life being a resider in an unknown country. Apart from that Yoichi was born in Nagano Prefecture in a family whose father was Korean and his Mother was Japanese. Yoichi’s work and the portrayal that he made of his family can be clearly seen in his best work All Under the Moon. Apart from being a filmmaker/ director, Yoichi was also the president of the directors Guild of Japan from 2004 until 2014. His work, All Under the moon stars some of the best actors including Goro Kishitani and ruby Moreno. One of the other works that were widely recognized is Blood and Bones starring Takeshi Kitano and this is the story of a Korean man who emigrated from Korea to Osaka, Japan. This story showcased the Japanese colonial dominance of the Korean peninsula from the 1920s. This movie won Yoichi the best Japan Academy Film Prize for best director. Yoichi also won many awards for his movie Under the moon. While speaking about his work Yoichi said in an earlier interview that he wants to explore his work as the chairman of the directors association.
