Cargo Ship Sinks In Atlantic Ocean
A cargo ship carrying vehicles worth $100 million sank in the Atlantic Ocean after colliding with a freighter off the coast of Virginia. Officials said the US Coast Guard has not yet identified the cargo ship while they are still unsure if the sunken ship, which is believed to be carrying luxury cars, was carrying lithium-ion batteries. The cargo ship sank at around 2:40 a.m. EST Tuesday after colliding with the freighter, Thomson Reuters news agency reported, adding that it is still unclear if there was any carbon monoxide leak on board the sunken ship. At around 1:10 pm GMT, a ship named ‘Norman Minimax’ was mysteriously propelled off the course at about 160 miles to the north of Jacksonville, Florida.

The cargo vessel carrying thousands of luxury vehicles sank in the Atlantic Ocean, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing a marine salvage company, who called the boat “a total loss.” The Coast Guard said it found the vessel with 4,380 vehicles on board, including 2,716 Audis, 712 Porsches, and 552 Rolls-Royces.

Since it went down on Monday about 1,000 miles east of West Palm Beach and about 80 miles north of the island of Bermuda, experts said the chances of any passenger vehicles being found are “very low.” Reuters reported that the ship was 90 percent submerged. A cargo ship carrying thousands of high-end cars appears to have sunk off the coast of Seville, Spain. MSNBC reports that five crew members are missing and 14 have been rescued. Cuban state media reports that the vessel, El Faro, a U.S.-owned ship bound for Jacksonville, Florida, went down with 33 mostly American crew members.
